Receiving the Black M.D. Scholarship is deeply meaningful to me, as it acknowledges my efforts and provides the opportunity to help pave the way for future Black physicians. This scholarship alleviates financial burdens, allowing me to access essential resources for excelling on the MCAT without added stress. It reassures me during this challenging application cycle and strengthens my commitment to contributing to a more diverse and equitable healthcare system.

Abigail Opoku

Receiving the Black M.D. Scholarship enables me to concentrate entirely on MCAT preparation without worrying about the associated costs. I am appreciative of the investment that is being made into my professional endeavors and mentorship that will support me throughout the journey.

Fun Fact: I sang in choir for 8 years!

Abigail is interested in Anesthesiology.

Victoria Omah

I am extremely honored to be a recipient of the Black M.D. scholarship because this scholarship money will ease the financial burden that comes with MCAT preparation and provide me with access to better study materials. Additionally, I am blessed to now be connected with past and present scholars whom I can reach out to for advice on my journey to becoming a physician!

Fun Fact: My sport growing up was competitive dance!

Victoria is interested in Anesthesiology and Obstetrics/Gynecology.

Briana Owirodu

Receiving this scholarship reduces the financial burden of working long hours. It allows me to spend more time on my studies and academic goals, which is a huge relief. Additionally, it gives me the chance to participate in the extracurricular activities that first honed my interest for medical school. This scholarship gives me the necessary time to complete my clinical hours for my healthcare career, and develop important skills needed for medical school, all of which are essential for my future success.

Faith Folorunso

The Black M.D. Scholarship has played a big role in me getting into medical school and provided a crucial financial foundation that enabled me to pursue my dream of becoming a physician. This scholarship eased the burden of educational expenses and also served as a testament to the importance of diversity and representation in the medical field. With the support of the Black M.D. Scholarship, I was able to focus more on my studies, engage in meaningful extracurricular activities, and contribute to my community. It also provided me with mentors that helped me with MCAT tips and interview questions and prep and I am very grateful!

Fun Fact: I have only left Texas once!

Faith is interested in Family Medicine.

Grace Ugochukwu

Being a recipient of the Black M.D. Scholarship has been extremely meaningful to me because it has allowed me to obtain resources for the MCAT that I would have had trouble securing otherwise. In addition, it has supplied me with an enriched network that I can go to for support as I embark on my journey of applying to medical school.

Fun Fact: I enjoy watching anime a lot!

Jessica Jeremiah

I am deeply grateful for the opportunities that the Black M.D. scholarship has afforded me. Winning this scholarship has not only alleviated the financial strains related to MCAT preparation but has also provided me with an invaluable support system. Studying for the MCAT is a grueling and time-consuming endeavor that is also very expensive. Being a recipient of the Black M.D. scholarship gave me the peace of mind to focus solely on preparing for the exam because I knew that I had the funds to pay for it.

Fun Fact: My family has had a pet parrot my whole life.

Myles Dockery

This scholarship has helped me be more comfortable at my HBCU. It has eased some financial stress and it has helped prepare me for what to expect.
